Satisfaction

Another race day. I think I have run this particular 10K for 3 years now and each have been very different. The first year my goal was to cross that finish line, and that I did in 1:13. Year number 2, I had to break 1 hour. Thanks to my friend Kristin, 59 minutes. This year, I wanted to be a support team for a couple of friends who took on this adventure for the first time. This past week, as I fell asleep, I made it a prayer that I would be able to encourage my friends Courtney and Jaclyn along the course. I didn't want the focus to be about my time or how my body felt, but to be by the side of my friends as they crossed that finish line. For a lot of first time runners, 6.2 miles can be very daunting. I will admit there were a couple of times where I wondered if I was talking too much or saying the wrong things. I just wanted them to know how sincerely proud I was (and am) of them. That is where I found satisfaction. When Courtney and Jaclyn crossed the finish line I was thrilled. I remembered my first race and the fullfillment of knowing I just accomplished something I had worked so hard for. Now, these two ladies are my "runing friends" and we are onto the next race!

Another Adventure

Here we go! I love reading my friend Courtney's blog and so I decided, hey maybe someone would find as much joy in reading mine.

So it's Wednesday morning; a biscuit and grapefruit later I'm ready to get rolling at work and be productive. This includes lots of CAD drawings for clients who are chomping at the bit to get started on their home renovations. I actually had a client (whom I've only met one time but has called the office if not once, twice almost daily since that meeting) actually ask me for my cell phone number yesterday. My first thought "Oh my Lord, I hope this woman doesn't actually call my cell phone." Out of courtesy I gave it to her. Now I sit with my fingers cross that it doesn't ring with an unknown number. We'll see!!
