Slow Work

It's getting really slow at work. Up until recently (say since Sept) I have been a project manager/client liaison for the construction division of my company. I loved my job. In Sept. I needed to step in and take on the title of dispatcher for our trucking division. This was not a transition I enjoyed or desired, but sometimes you gotta do what's necessary.

Well, now our construction and trucking division are located in the same building (we moved in Oct) and I'm still working in trucking. There just isn't any construction work for me to do! But now that I'm getting ready to have our baby I'm trying to scale things back a bit.

The last week I've been "training" our office manager to take over my data entry work and payroll process. It's really not complicated stuff, just more mind numbing than anything else. But the point is, the time is now 10:45 AM and I have turned in payroll information to our accountant. I could go home and not come back until Monday. Instead, I'll try to brain storm ideas of how to generate construction business, work on organizing things around the office and probably be here for a 1/2 day tomorrow.

That's a fun thing, I've been working 1/2 days on Fridays for the past couple of weeks. I get to work on baby things with my mom and make sure errands are run. It will be nice when the baby arrives and I'll feel busy again.

It is going to be one of those days. The morning didn't start off on the right foot and as much as I try to turn things around....so far, no luck. My attitude hasn't dropped off a cliff yet, so that's something positive!

2:21 - an emotional breakdown later....i think the attitude is hanging on by a very thin and short thread.
Thank you Courtney for showing me the silver lining. At least there are bright sunny things to be thankful for.

Vanilla Latte Anyone?

We were over at my parents house this afternoon and while rummaging through the cabinet Cary came across a Krups Espresso maker. This belonged to a dear friend several years ago and I had my eye on it back then. Much to my surprise it was tucked way up on a high shelf and I said "QUICK, grab it!"

A few nights ago we were watching Food Network and an episode of Good Eats was all about espresso and how to make a latte. It's like all of the pieces of a puzzle just fell right together. Cary gave me some vanilla syrup for Christmas and then we watched the TV show and now we have an espresso maker!!

So that's what we did tonight. Played around and Sweetie made me a latte that was "slap your grandma silly" delicious. I actually said, "Sweetie, I think I'm going to have to call my mom and tell her about this fantastic latte. It's better than Starbucks! I'm as satisfied right now as I am when I take a hot bath; or crawl into bed after the sheets have just been washed and everything is soft, sweet smelling and snuggly." So yummy!

Obviously we are new at this espresso thing. Our tools were: 2 shot glasses, a meat thermometer and a measuring cup (more for the overflow of foaming milk than steaming. The machine came with the cup for the milk to steam in).

So if you like lattes, come on over we can make 'em for ya!

These are a couple of the families we go on a summer beach trip with. I was telling Cary on the ride home that I love ringing in a New Year with this group. Most have been friends since college and we all meet and jive on so many different levels. I love these girls, all of whom have given me priceless advice for the new baby. I love their children! My heart is always full when I am around them.
