Mood Swing

** UPDATE**
The day got away from me & before I knew it I was on my way home. I didn't even see the "Happy Co-Worker" and although it was a crazy one, it was a good day!

I'm on the fence this morning when it comes to my mood. It really could go either way, happy or frustrated. Thankfully my office is on the side of the building where not many folks venture in the morning. One co-worker in particular is a super happy morning person. Quite frankly he gets on my nerves and has learned to just steer clear of me. At least he's a quick learner. I've heard his voice from around the corner several times so far and keep saying to myself "Don't come over here. Don't do it. It will tip me over to the side that I don't want to go!"

45 more minutes until I leave for a meeting which will be sure to make my day a happy one.

Yee Haw for Rockville

This weekend is the annual "Field Day of the Past." This fair-like event happens about a mile from our house. It's very country, with tractor pulls, games, rides and even a Ferris wheel. For the past several years Cary and I will be in bed, trying to go to sleep but with the loud over powering noise of machines in the background. So we decided to check it out this year. Tim & Cristy came along for the ride and it was a perfect night! The weather is slightly cool and we pulled out the jackets, hopped in the Jeep and headed down the road.

Cristy and I were so cold on the short ride home that we snuggled up tight in the back seat of the Jeep. Of course Sweetie decided to impress Tim the second this picture was taken by hopping the median right in front of our house. Thankfully the camera was okay.

United Way Night

Can I just say that tonight was a GREAT night?! After an insane work day I met Cary and several other friends at a United Way event. Cary and I both participated in a United Way program called The Emerging Leaders. We basically worked on the giving campaign with many different companies across town to raise money for our local UW. Along the way we made great friends and tonight was an alumni event. I LOVE some of the folks I teamed up with 2 years ago during my time at the United Way. It was so great to break out of the norm, hit a local bar (even though I didn't drink) and meet up with old friends to shoot the breeze. Those girls crack me up and really made my evening relaxing. I'm exhausted now and kicking myself for not taking a single picture. These are the moments I need to capture so you could meet Dorothea, Megan & Lauren along with many others. Good times....now I have to go to bed or else I'm going to collapse.

quick update b/c this day just can't get any crazier, my client loved the presentation and more importantly loved my favorite fabric! :) I'm good...

Relief!

this is how my desk looked earlier this morning, well more like right now actually. i just completed a 4 page drapery proposal for a client. i am giving her 2 options for the design and 4 options for fabrics with trim, all based on price range. since coming home from the beach I've been working hard on pulling all of the materials, quantities, labor, etc. leading up to my meeting in 40 minutes. thank God it's done. what a relief! i wonder what she'll choose....i have my favorite of course but who knows if she wants to pay for it!

one thing I'm very thankful for are the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies i made last night. if you look closely on the desk, next to my red Christmas mug you'll see some plastic with red dots on it, that's the cookies. they've sustained my nutritional needs this morning while i worked. did i mention that as we were in staff meeting and I'm supposed to be taking notes i took that time to actually pull the proposal format together?

I'm a very visual person and with so many choices i decided to scan photos of each fabric and place them in the proposal next to the price breakout, so as to keep anyone from being confused. there is just so much involved in putting it all together. I'd love to give a big THANK YOU to Microsoft excel, cause if that program wasn't in existence i would be in LOTS of trouble.

Bitter Sweet

We just got home from a week at the beach with great friends. Last night as we were gathered in the living room just digging into some yummy brownies, several of us agreed that 1 week vacation just isn't enough. I feel like it was just Thursday evening that I began to really relax and enjoy being away. While Cary and I were driving home I was so sad. Sad to be leaving friends. Sad to be leaving the calming sounds of the ocean. Sad to be leaving the last bit of a tan for 2008. But then I told Cary that we should be excited because now our Fall Season officially begins. There are lots of things to look forward to! Still, leaving the beach is bitter sweet.

Once we got home I was so thankful that we worked very hard to clean our house before leaving. It was nice to walk through the bedrooms and everything to smell new. I know that when we crawl into bed tonight the sheets are clean and tight. The bathroom was shining and not cluttered with dirty clothes. Sigh. It's nice to be home.

I'll upload photos of the beach once I find the camera. Don't get your hopes up too much though b/c I was aweful at taking pictures!

Family Addition

We are thrilled to announce an addition to our family! As of Valentine's Day 2009, Cary and I will go from a family of 2 to a family of 3. I've been blogging about my pregnancy from day one and if you'd like, check it out! The majority of my blogging has been on this site, which is why so much has gone unwritten here. Back to painting the nursery!!
