This weekend I have been learning the valuable lesson of determining my emotional energy priorities? Friday night wasn't so great and a couple of people really frustrated me to the point of ruining my evening. Saturday morning I decided that I was not going to let myself spend any more emotional energy on the events which took up so much of my time and attention on Friday. Well, today is when those circumstances which caused stress on Friday would come back to test me. To be quiet frank I haven't been feeling my best and I just don't have the physical energy to think about anything except my task at hand. Today the Lord has really shown me the truth in the verse "do not worry about tomorrow, He's got it all under control." I witnessed first hand His perfect timing at work today.
A painter told me on Friday night that he wasn't going to work today, which would ruin my chance of finishing a job on time. This morning the mirror company arrived on site to install a huge wall mirror and a job that should have taken 30 min. ended up taking 4 hours! The painter called me in the 3rd hour and left a message that he finished a job early and would like to come by the house to see if we were ready for him. As the mirror company was cleaning up the site the painter walks in the door with his supplies in hand and says "as much time as I can be productive, I want to be doing something here to keep on schedule."
There were many opportunities for me to stress out and become emotional about this project but instead I chose to just let it go. As I drove away from the job site I thought, "The Lord really does work things out, now doesn't He?!"
We have experienced many amazing changes this year and the Lord is constantly renovating our hearts to be a better reflection of Him.

Our Easter Lunch
Both sets of parents joined us this Easter for lunch. Our neighbor Adrienne was an honorary family member on Sunday! It was a feast!! Here are some pictures.

When I am training for a marathon there are many days which call for an early morning run. First thing, get out of bed, brush my teeth and do the other standard morning routine slip on my running shoes and head out to meet a friend (or group) for a training run. I love that time of day when we get out on the road and the traffic is light, not many folks out and about yet and the sun is waking up. My day from that point forward already feels "full" and I am satisfied.
I was reading Kristin Armstrong's blog this afternoon and it reminded me of how much I love being up early in the morning. I was reminded of how much I love running before the weight of a work day can bog me down. Now, let's see if I can muster the discipline to do this more often!

No Bed Before 9:30!
I am so tired right now. My body aches from my work out earlier this evening. Today (and the past few days for that matter) I have been feeling like there just aren't enough hours in the day. So I told myself "no bed before 9:30!" haha, I feel like this is so pathetic. Cary's already in bed and I'm sure fast asleep, but he got up at the crack of dawn so I don't blame him. Instead I am in the man room, watching Lost and purchasing stuff from Amazon.
Tomorrow is sure to be a full day at work. Hopefully I can get everything done and then be able to enjoy a day off work on Monday!!

Finally, some down time
Tonight I have elected to neglect the exercise routine I had in mind for tonight. I got home later than usual and really felt like I needed to just do something to relax and finally have some down time to myself.
So in front of a fire, classical music in the back ground, glass of wine, cheese and crackers by my side I began to read my friend Courtney's blog. Every day she is posting devotionals about the week leading up to Easter and how the bible documents Christ's last days on earth.
Conviction. That is what I've been feeling since this weekend. We didn't go to church on Saturday night and I completely forgot about Palm Sunday until it was too late. I think this is the first Palm Sunday I have forgotten and it's almost like forgetting a good friend's birthday. I told Cary last night I was disappointed in my approach to this week and it's significance. Which makes me so thankful that Courtney had the wisdom and foresight to post the daily devotions. I have been drinking them up (more than my wine) as I'm sitting here. Playing moment by moment in my head as if I'm watching a really good movie and I'm almost in tears. I just want to FEEL Easter Sunday past the worry of how my dining room table looks and what I'll be serving my guests. I want to LIVE Christ's death and resurrection, all the joy wonder and amazement that comes along with it.
One day I pray I can instill in my children's lives the importance of this week as much as Courtney has been able to impact me.

Friday Plans
It's fairly early in the morning and I'm really hopeful this will turn out to be a good day. My grandparents are in town from Florida and that is very exciting. I have lunch plans with a wonderful friend, and b/c of this date the morning can not go by fast enough. Jaclyn and I are having our nails done right after work, anything is fun with Jaclyn. Then I found out a fun band is playing at a BBQ joint tonight, which I would like to go see. All of this non-work activity is making it hard to focus on being productive at work. So I need to buckle down and get busy so I can feel like I've accomplished something today, other than planning my weekend!

Bathing Suit Season
My one piece, pool swimming, "athletic" swim suit is shot. I mean I've never seen something so pathetic in my life. No joke. It's been a month or so since I have been in the pool and last night was the first time back. I knew the suit was on it's last leg but didn't know how atrocious it would look once it gave out. When I reached the end of a lap last night I was chatting with this nice old man who was sharing the lap lane and as nervous hands and finger would do, I began playing with the core/torso/belly, whatever you want to call it, of my bathing suit. Yea, I could fold the black material over 4 times before it became tight enough to seem somewhat normal. But I paid no attention, I was swimming and chatting it up! That was until I decided to get out of the pool. Once I stood up and walked to my towel and looked down that's when I noticed a fraction of how bad it was. I mean the Lycra was hanging there, beautifully swagged as if it belonged on a window treatment. Once I took a look at myself in a mirror I thought "so this is what I would look like if I weighted 350 lbs and lost 3/4 of my body fat." I was a prime candidate for Extreme Makeover! Needless to say the rest of my evening was consumed with the horrors of bathing suit shopping. No luck yet, but if someone has a recommendation for a website where I can find something solid black for a good deal, bring it on! I hate bathing suit shopping.
Enough Excuses
Cary was getting on my case last night about not updating the blog recently. Sometimes it's tough to find good blog worthy material! Especially when a life seems to be consumed by work for a week and someone has a bad attitude (me not Cary). So enough excuses. I will do my best to search out some good blog material over the next couple of days and keep you posted.

Week In Review
It's been a crazy week! Tuesday evening Jaclyn and I had a random girls night at our fav. wine bar. We just talked, had some good wine and spent time together doing something other than running or exercising.

Thursday evening was my friend Kathryn's birthday! She is so lovely and I love her to death. We went to this fantastic new (maybe it's the first time I've been there) restaurant downtown. I gave her a great cookbook and some really cute dessert plates. My heart was so full when we left that evening.

This weekend hasn't been too eventful. Today Cary is riding his bike with some friends while I pick up around the house and begin to get organized for a week that is sure to be even more busy. I have a baby shower to attend this afternoon for a friend I met a year ago and has since joined Cary's company. This should be fun!
